Insert Coin is another in a long list of documentaries about video games. However, instead of taking a haphazard look at the history of gaming, the film focuses on a particular company and their greatest decade. The documentary is an entertaining and informative look at Midway and how it came to be an industry leader at their height. Unlike other gaming documentaries, it also does a great job of getting into the how the company’s brightest minds were able to marry the ideas of making great games and turning large profits.
The trailer hints at some of the innovative techniques and risks the company behind such iconic games such as Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam were willing to take. The documentary is a must see for any gamer with a soundtrack that is fun and instills nostalgia.
