It’s been months of speculation about when we’d get the first official trailer for Avengers: Doomsday, partly because multiple leaks gave things away. Today we get the trailer, right in time for San Diego Comic-Con and a likely Hall H visit from the cast of the film on the way too.
That’s not all, tickets are now on sale for the film, and boy howdy, they are getting snatched up fast!
Check out the trailer below.
A couple of observations while watching the trailer a few times.
- Thor appears to be the main character, at least in this trailer
- Robert Downey Jr’s voice as Doom is prominent at the start, giving us our first taste of his performance
- Gambit gets not one, but two mic drop moments
- The final shot of Thor and an old friend ties directly to Avengers: Endgame, making this feel like a direct sequel to that
- Prominent shots of Namor and the Fantastic Four, along with Shuri and Wakandians, show a robust cast of characters
The official synopsis reads,
“Universes collide and the Multiverse Saga begins its final chapter in Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday. Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and ultimately face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered. This epic film will lay the foundation for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
