The Marvel Television and Marvel Animation panel at New York Comic Con brought news on the next seasons of shows such as Daredevil: Born Again, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and X-Men ’97. The presentation also covered upcoming series such as Wonder Man.
Stars Yahya Abdul-Meteen II, who plays Simon Williams/Wonder Man, and Sir Ben Kingsley, returning to the role of Trevor Slattery, took the stage. The pair discussed several topics including working with director Destin Daniel Cretton, filming in Los Angeles, and what it was like playing characters who are actors like themselves. Afterwards, they introduced the first official trailer for the show which is followed by the official synopsis.
Aspiring Hollywood actor Simon Williams is struggling to get his career off the ground. During a chance meeting with Trevor Slattery, an actor whose biggest roles may be well behind him, Simon learns legendary director Von Kovak is remaking the superhero film “Wonder Man.” These two actors at opposite ends of their careers doggedly pursue life-changing roles in this film as audiences get a peek behind the curtain of the entertainment industry.
In addition to Abdul-Meteen II and Kingsley, the series stars Arian Moayed, X Mayo, Zlatko Burić, Olivia Thirlby, and Byron Bowers. It is created by Cretton and Andrew Guest with Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Jonathan Schwartz, Brad Winderbaum, Cretton, and Guest as executive producers.
Wonder Man releases January 27, 2026 on Disney+.
