Last week, we looked at some of the most overlooked movies of 2020. This week, AIPT focuses on movies that flew under the radar for a reason. And if you did happen to see them, you may have wished you never had. From horror movies to more family friendly fare, here are some of the worst movies of 2020.

Lost Girls & Love Hotel – “The fine performances and striking craft are buried under a great heaping burble of racist Orientalist nonsense, failed stabs at crafting moments that are deep and meaningful, dull sex-negativity, and a final act that goes so hard on the anguish that it faceplants right into being bitterly laughable.”

The Grudge – I wasn’t expecting much. But it’s dull, disappointing, and forgettable.

Like a Boss & Shortcut – When it comes to bad, there were only two choices. Like a Boss is pure, loud obnoxiousness and crudeness that rivals a really bad Happy Madison production. It’s two leads have great chemistry together, but it is an utter drag to sit through that left me ducking out early.
Shortcut, on the other hand, is a trial in tedium. A film that somehow ended up in my local theater due to there being nothing else this past September, Shortcut is nothing. It feels a low, LOW budget Sci-Fi Channel production, minus the poor CGI, and suffers from poor pacing, a lack of scares and proper ending, and little to no characterization. The only thing going for it is the Stranger Things-esque synth soundtrack it boasts, but it doesn’t remotely save this odd, unremarkable horror film.

Dolittle, The Turning, Artemis Fowl – No film to me was worse than the pathetic Dolittle. Dolittle was inexcusably awful, it wasn’t cute or funny or entertaining at any point… a complete waste of time.
