X-Men Monday #100 Hellfire Gala news roundup

Learn more about the Hellfire Gala from AIPT’s X-Men Monday #100.

Everyone is excited for the Hellfire Gala, which will feature 12 titles, 12 stories–all focused on one epic night this June. Lucky for you, AIPT’s X-Men Monday celebrates 100 editions this week and it’s jam-packed with info from the writers in the X-office. I highly recommend you check out the column for yourself as there is new creator info as well as info about how the X-office functions during the pandemic.

He’s a rundown of insider Hellfire Gala info:

It was originally planned for a yearly December event. Jonathan Hickman, the head of X himself, revealed Hellfire Gala was intended to be an end-of-year event. The real bummer is that it was going to be our holiday thing every year, and if you wanted to tie-in, it’s what the line would do every December. Party plans got pandemic-d,” Hickman said.

When asked if they could tease anything from the event the entire team chimed in with interesting tidbits, like Gerry Duggan–maybe joking–it’ll be about mutants versus humans in a softball match, while Simon Spurrier said it’s all about being hungover and horny, Mark Basso name dropped Deadpool, Tini Howard revealed there will be breakups, and writer Leah Williams said there will definitely be murder. Jonathan Hickman simply says, “Last issue,” which might suggest he’s leaving X-Men? Likely not, but oh boy that’d be huge. There’s plenty more teases, but these are the most interesting.

Another interesting tidbit is how Leah Williams had Pinterest going before the Hellfire Gala idea came to be. “This board was made before the Gala was announced. Before that point, we’d been excitedly DM’ing Gerry with links and jpegs or spamming the Hellfire Gala channel in the Slack.” It’s fun to think an event with so many iconic looks may have all started as a way to tease Gerry Duggan via X-Men Slack.

Oh, and that iconic Emma Frost cover by Russell Dauterman below? Check out the column for a chance to win a piece of art by Joshua Cassara with Emma wearing a similar look!
