On Thursday, Mat Elfring of Gamespot revealed that Hasbro will be releasing a series of action figures based on the 1980s animated series Star Wars: Droids. The series is currently available on Disney+, although that likely hasn’t done much to increase the number of people who’ve seen it. At least we’re getting a surprise toy release out of it, though.
Let’s take a look at the lone 6″ Black Series release before getting to the 3.75″ scale Vintage Collection items.

You gotta love that 1980s animated coloring.
What you don’t have to love is that the figure is a Target exclusive, meaning that it’ll retail for a slightly higher than normal price point ($26.49) and preorders will be lucky to last 5 minutes after the scalper bots do their work.
If you’re willing to try, however, then the figure is expected to go up for sale tomorrow at 9:00 AM EDT.
The next three figures are also Target exclusives that will be available to order at 9:00 AM. They’ll set you back $15.99, but each comes with a collector coin. It’s not much, but it takes a bit of the sting out of getting overcharged for nostalgic packaging (which admittedly looks great).

Also, the figures themselves are surprisingly cool. I had absolutely no intention of buying these, but now I’m going to at least try (and likely fail) to get the Boba Fett one.
R2-D2 may also be worth picking up just for the novelty of how different he looks from his other iterations. C3P-0, on the other hand, is definitely reserved for the completists.
