For this week’s Channel Surfing TV picks, we have a rare appearance of a brand-new network show along with a season appropriate special and zombies. A sinkhole to a primeval land appears in a major metropolitan area in La Brea. Explore Darth Vader’s spooky Mustafar castle in Lego Star Wars Terrifying Tales. Then continue to experience what it’s like to come of age during a zombie apocalypse in The Walking Dead: World Beyond.

We’re Not Talking Tar Pits Here

The fall season is a time for networks to showcase their exciting new programs on their prime time schedule. This year NBC only has three new series to debut in the fall of 2021 including the fantasy sci-fi drama, La Brea.

A giant sinkhole materializes in Los Angeles and swallows hundreds of people. They are all transported to a dangerous place and must band together with complete strangers in order to survive. One family is torn apart by the incident placing members on both sides of the opening and they must unlock its secrets in order to be reunited.

La Brea makes its series premiere Tuesday night, September 28, on NBC.

Rest in Pieces

Lucasfilm and the Lego Group have had a fruitful relationship collaborating on projects across mediums from video games to toys to television. The results of their latest partnership can be viewed later this week in the TV special, Lego Star Wars Terrifying Tales.

Graballa the Hutt has purchased Darth Vader’s old palace on Mustafar and the entrepreneur hopes to renovate it into the galaxy’s first Sith themed luxury hotel. Meanwhile, following the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Poe Dameron and BB-8 experience ship issues and must make a pitstop at Fortress Vader. They join Graballa and the Sith Lord’s loyal servant, Vaneé, on a tour of the place while a sinister plan emerges.

Stream Lego Star Wars Terrifying Tales beginning Friday, October 1, on Disney+.

Taking Down the Civic Republic

There was a lot going on when we last left The Walking Dead: World Beyond. The group discover they had a mole in their midst and all the drama causes them to split up in order to survive but not before two of them are taken into custody.

We’ve caught glimpses of The Civic Republic in the other shows and the group is positioned to play an important role in the franchise moving forward. Since World Beyond has given us the biggest look so far of the organization, hopefully the final season of the limited series will give us more answers. From the trailer, the kids are a little less green when it comes to dispatching zombies and at the end, we catch a familiar face who could maybe tell us what Rick Grimes has been up to.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond season two will have its linear premiere on Sunday, October 3, on AMC.
