On Saturday, Netflix released a new teaser for Stranger Things‘ upcoming fourth season. Unlike last time, however, this one gives us quite a bit more information…sort of. Give it a watch first before we break things down a bit.
First off, I can’t be the only person who initially thought they’d been duped into watching a trailer for an unannounced season/setting of American Horror Story. Even after the blinking lights start up, it’s not entirely clear that anything is related to the Stranger Things mythos we know and love until our main characters (and Dustin’s fake British accent) appear.
Whatever happened at the Creel House, we can infer a few things:
- It happened in the 1950’s.
- It involved the Upside Down.
- It was very bad.
- It’s somehow tied to the present/1980’s storyline.
Empire Online has more of a detailed scoop about what’s going on, so skip over the blocked quote below if you want to avoid spoilers.
Creel House is the home of new character Victor Creel, played by horror icon Robert “Freddy” Englund. Creel has been imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital since his family was violently murdered in the 1950s, which Creel blamed on a vengeful demon…
Stranger Things 4 is set for release in 2022. No exact date has been given yet, but I’m still going with the theory that it’ll be in February around Valentine’s Day.
