Fantastic Five: The best comics of the week of November 26, 2021

A special Black Friday edition of our roundup of the best comics of the week.

It’s time for a Black Friday edition of Fantastic Five, where we call out the five best comics of the week! This week saw a highly anticipated debut, a number of second issues that prove not everyone succumbs to the sophomore slump, and everyone’s favorite web-head. Let’s get to the comics!

Amazing Spider-Man #79

Amazing Spider-Man #79 goes hard with the amount of story it’s delivering, varying ideas, and well-written character threads. This is as good as it gets in superhero comics with heart, action, and pure entertainment.

‘Amazing Spider-Man’ #79 is pure entertainment

Hulk #1

Bombastic and ambitious, the Hulk enters a new and terrifying era in this first issue, and it looks like he’s going to make the entire Marvel universe feel his growing pains. I’m definitely on board, especially if the series can continue this sense of momentum while still building off of what’s come before.

Night of the Ghoul #2

Night of the Ghoul follows up the first issue with an even creepier and disturbing second issue. I was teetering on this being my least favorite series from Snyder’s first three titles, but this second issue has swayed me. Night of the Ghoul is a hair-raising and disturbing horror story that rivals some of the best horror classics of our time.

‘Night of the Ghoul’ #2 is a hair-raising, must-read issue

Task Force Z #2

By revealing some of its secrets, Task Force Z #2 is a marked improvement over the first issue. If, like me, you were hoping for something a little deeper from this creative team, it can be found right here. Do yourself a favor, and just like Jason Todd with that Lazarus Resin, give Task Force Z another shot.

DC vs. Vampires #2

This is a highly entertaining second issue thanks to the fantastic characterization of many DC Comics mainstays, especially those in the Batman family. DC vs. Vampires #2‘s strength is in its characterization that feels real and true to life.
