On Friday, Hasbro revealed a brand new army builder 4-pack for its 3.75″ scale Vintage Collection toyline. This time it was the long-awaited Coastal Defender (aka Shoretrooper) set.
Like the previously released Stromtrooper and Rebel Fleet trooper 4-packs, the Shoretrooper pack will be sold exclusively through Hasbro Pulse and ShopDisney for $41.99. It is available now for preorder with an expected arrival in August 2022.
Hasbro previously released super articulated versions of the normal Shoretrooper in the Vintage Collection and Black Series 3.75″ lines.
Yes, there was 3.75″ super articulated Black Series line for a while. Yes, it made things very confusing.
Adding to the confusion was the fact that the Black Series figure was incorrectly labeled as a squad leader. The only true version of the squad leader we had was a 5-POA figure from the Rogue One toyline. With this set, however, we get a squad leader (far left) along with a captain and two grunts.
Even if you aren’t a pedantic dork who cares about trooper ranks (like I do), this is still a really cool set. It would be nice if we could get the captain and squad leader as single carded releases, though. Perhaps I’ll just need to bite the bullet and build out my Rogue One shelf a bit.
