David Lynch has had a long and illustrious career that includes classics like Eraserhead, Wild at Heart, and Mulholland Drive. Though not always commercially impactful, his films have almost always been critically lauded. On the other end of the spectrum is Steven Spielberg. Creator of the summer blockbuster, Spielberg’s resume includes box office juggernauts such as Jurassic Park, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, and the Indiana Jones franchise.
Though their works are markedly different, it is still something of a surprise that the two have never worked together. That appears to be changing as Lynch has been cast in Spielberg’s The Fablemans. Exact details of the movie remain a under wraps, but the movie has been described as a semi-autobiographical project. Lynch’s role in the film also remains a mystery.
This is not Lynch’s first foray into acting, with his role as eccentric FBI agent Gordon Cole being one of his most popular. He has also done voice work over the years and served as a narrator for documentaries. Though he will not have an influence on The Fablemans behind the camera, it will be neat to see two of the most decorated directors of all time work together.
