On Monday, James Hibberd of the Hollywood Reporter revealed that the first full trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will debut during this Sunday’s Super Bowl. This will be by far our best look at the series, which has an estimated budget of nearly $500 million for its 10-episode first season.

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (Prime Video)
Up until now, the most we’ve seen has been the the still featured at the top of this article along with a series of 23 images featuring the hands and torso of many of the characters. The prospect of getting to finally getting to see some actual footage makes watching the L.A. Rams demolish the Bengals much more palatable.
(No, that’s not the result I want. Yes, I will happily eat crow if I’m wrong).
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power chronicles the rise of Sauron thousands of years before the events that transpire in the LOTR books/movies. It will also detail the forging of the Rings of Power and how they shape the history of Middle-earth.
The series premieres September 2 exclusively on Prime Video. Although no official announcement has been made about how the episodes will be released, it’s a safe bet they’ll be weekly considering how much the series cost.
