DC Comics has revealed the Milestone universe is expanding this May with Greg Pak, Khoi Pham, and Scott Hanna on Duo. The new six-issue series is set in a new place called Earth-M which will feature new superheroes and concepts starting with Duo.
The series will introduce two superheroes who live in one body with the power of billions of nanobots. Add in the fact that the two superheroes are in love, and can’t agree on how their powers should be used, and you have a recipe for great drama.
So what’s Duo about?
Nanotech engineers Dr. Kelly Vu and Dr. David Kim are committed to only one thing more than each other: using their regenerative nanobots to save the world. And following a violent attack, those very same nanobots end up saving David and Kelly’s lives…sort of. Their salvation comes with an unexpected consequence: husband and wife awaken to realize that they now share one super-powered body!
But what is Earth-M? Per DC Comics: “Earth-M” is a collection of new concepts and characters created by original Milestone cofounder Denys Cowan and current Milestone relaunch shepherd Reginald Hudlin, both inspired by and nestled within the Milestone universe. In time, these new heroes may meet their Milestone forebears, but now is the time for Milestone to do what it was always meant to through Earth-M: broaden perspectives on the superhero genre as a whole with ideas you’ve never seen before.
