On Tuesday, Justin Kroll of Deadline exclusively revealed that Fred Hechinger has been cast as Chameleon in Sony’s upcoming film featuring Kraven the Hunter. In case you forgot the announcement from last year, Aaron Taylor-Johnson will be portraying the title character.
You’ll likely recognize Hechinger from HBO’s The White Lotus or Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy. As for Chameleon, it’s probably a safe bet that most of you are familiar with Spider-Man’s first villain (from way back in Amazing Spider-Man #1). He may not be the most well known member of the wall crawler’s rogues gallery, but this master of disguise has always been a force to be reckoned with.

What you might not know (or remember) is that he’s Kraven’s half brother, thus making his inclusion in the film significantly less random that it first appeared.
I’m still not 100% sold in a movie based on a B-list villain (yes, Kraven is B-List), but the inclusion of one of my favorite Spider-Man baddies has definitely piqued my interest. The casting news also means we’re likely to hear more about the film’s plot soon.
