While Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse may still be a little under a year before release, Sony has kept the news flowing with new character announcements. Back in April, the creators teased a massive roster of 240 characters would be appearing across the two-part series, and now a major villain has been announced for Across the Spider-Verse.
This morning, on the film’s official Twitter account, it was announced that The Spot would be a villain appearing in the film voiced by Jason Schwartzman. Though largely an obscure inclusion in Spider-Man’s rogues gallery, the Tweet below claims The Spot will be Miles’ss “most formidable foe yet.”
The Spot made his debut in the pages of Spectacular Spider-Man #98 and can warp himself using his signature trans-dimensional spots. The promotional image teases this ability as he warps Miles’ kick through himself to a spot nearest Spider-Gwen to stun her. With all the hopping between multiverses the film has teased, it makes perfect sense for one of the antagonists to rival this ability with his own.
