Acclaimed Academy Award nominated actor Harvey Keitel has been cast in the upcoming National Treasure Disney+ series.
The actor played a pivotal character in both of the National Treasure films.
The first film was released in 2004 and was a box office success, making $347.5 million on a $100 million budget. The success of the first film spurred Disney to make a sequel which was released in 2007 and made $459.2 million on a $130 million budget.
The films focused on Nicholas Cage’s character, Ben Gates, on the hunt for a mysterious treasure that previous men in his family have tried and failed to find. Harvey Keitel played Sadusky, the man attempting to track him down.

Keitel is among a cast of a lot of new faces that were not apart of the two past films. One of the new additions is another Academy Award winner, Catherine Zeta-Jones.
This new series is actually not the only new addition to this Disney franchise. A third National Treasure film is currently in development.
There are not a lot of details about that upcoming third installment as of right now.
It’s yet to be seen whether the franchise’s lead, Nicholas Cage, will appear in either the upcoming series or film.
