Image Comics has gifted us a delightful surprise just in time for the holiday season: Creepshow Vol. 2 #4! This comic book is filled with two spine-chilling stories, “Killer Cart Corral” and “The Amulet,” that are sure to give you goosebumps.
The first story, “Killer Cart Corral,” is written and illustrated by Nick Dragotta (East of West), with colorist Jean-Francois Beaulieu (Invincible) and letterer Pat Brosseau (I Hate This Place). The story follows a mother and son on a simple trip to the store, which soon turns into a horrifying experience.
The second story, “The Amulet,” is written by Alisa Kwitney and illustrated by Mauricet, who have previously worked together on a fascinating book called G.I.L.T. which I highly recommend. Bosseau provides the letter work for this story as well. “The Amulet” takes readers on a journey into every parent’s nightmare: the fears of getting old and your kid taking you to live in a retirement home. The story’s protagonist Alvina Madigan turns the tables in a way you couldn’t imagine.
Both stories are beautifully illustrated, with Nick Dragotta and Mauricet providing impactful visuals that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. What sets these stories apart is the way both artists have masterfully crafted a happy and peaceful tone that quickly transitions into horror and unpredictable moments, as is the hallmark of any Creepshow book or television episode. If you’re a horror fan, you will undoubtedly enjoy reading both stories in this comic book.
I highly recommend adding Creepshow Vol. 2 #4 to your Christmas wish list. This is an excellent opportunity to support your local comic shops during the holiday season while indulging in some spine-tingling horror stories.
