Forbes revealed earlier today Upper Deck and DC Comics are teaming up for a new series of collectible cards. The cards will feature characters including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the Joker, which will combine collectability, original artwork and tabletop gameplay.
Due to release in December, fans can now purchase a preview card. Cards will feature original artwork from top DC artists.
“We’re going deep into the world of DC storytelling with this collection,” Jason Masherah, president of Upper Deck, told Forbes. “We’ve built a nice portfolio of trading cards and games around the entertainment genre, and we’re really excited to add DC characters to the brands we’ve built over the years.”
At least initially, the cards will be based primarily on comic books rather than the versions of DC characters from movies, TV, or video games.
It’s been decades since DC Comics produced trading cards, which means collectors will likely be excited for what is to come.
