Welcome back to another edition of Fantastic Five! The weather is heating up and so are the comic books. This week was all about Big Two events, as Absolute Power kicks off over at DC and Blood Hunt continues to run through Marvel. Let’s get to the books!

#5: Batman: The Brave and the Bold #14
I’m a broken record at this point, but this anthology is the best ongoing anthology in comics today. Done-in-one tales are excellent, and ongoing tales offer great art, and good story beats. You won’t be disappointed by this book!

#4: Blood Hunt #4
Blood Hunt #4 tees up for the grand finale with revelations and revolution galore, making this one of Marvel’s better events. I have every faith that MacKay and Larraz can stick the landing.

#3: Thanos Annual #1
I’m not always sold on Marvel’s annual crossover via annual issues, but Thanos Annual #1 has made me a believer. Landy has a great handle on writing Thanos, while the lingering sense that the Infinity Stones can gain more play is always enticing. “The Infinity Watch” feels important as it excitingly explores the Infinity Stones’ next chapter.

#2: Hellverine #2
The awesomeness of Ghost Rider and Wolverine combine in a dark and horror-friendly Hellverine #2. Hellverine melds superheroes and horror perfectly with grisly sights and delightful monstrous creations.

#1: Absolute Power: Ground Zero #1
Ground Zero lives up to its name and is a perfect setup to answer questions and establish characters for this event. All the creatives have crafted thrilling issues that show how these newer DC characters are in for some intense drama when going up against Waller. Plus, the trinity of evil coming together is an excellent setup for why they’ll have the heroes of the DC Universe running scared.
