At today’s Lucasfilm Publishing NYCC panel, writer Marc Guggenheim revealed his first ongoing Star Wars comic. Star Wars Jedi Knights is set to launch next March. “We’re really swinging for the fences with this one,” Guggenheim said of the series, which will showcase different Jedi groupings in each self-contained issue.
Taking place before the events of Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace, it’ll feature beloved Jedi like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn alongside deep cuts like Yaddle. Brand-new Jedi will be making appearances, including one of the first disabled Jedi in Star Wars.
One issue will even introduce what Guggenheim described as “the Star Wars equivalent of Kaiju” in an issue that’s all splash pages. Speaking of splash pages, the first issue opens with a bang, which you can see below, along with some variant covers.
