Friday evening, the powers that be behind Crunchyroll held an NYCC panel to discuss their upcoming anime slate. Moderators Lauren Moore and Tim Liu came together on stage to showcase everything Crunchyroll has offered, does offer, and will offer.
A trailer for Dandadan, “a story about a guy, a girl and some ghosts” as Tim Liu describes it, is shown. They showed a trailer for Dragon Ball DAIMA, paying tribute to Akira Toriyama. There’s a trailer for Re:Zero’s third season with Lauren Moore only stating the main character “goes through it.” The streamer showed a trailer for Shangri-La Frontier which sparks a conversation about VR gaming.

The audience loses its mind when the anime Bananya comes up, and a special guest makes an appearance. A Bananya mascot came into the room, scurrying on their little legs. The fact that they were giving Bananya plushies helped motivate fans to go crazy. But the next guest had no problem outdoing that reaction without the help of bribery: Turtleme. The Webtoon author was on stage to promote his novel The Beginning After the End, a reincarnation of Isekai.
On the gaming front, the moderators discuss Crunchyroll’s Game Vault service, which offers games like River City Girls and Inbento. Tim Liu seems to have an affinity for any guys that let you “beat them,” with them being interchangeable between monsters and magic girls. Gameplay footage was also shown for Moonstone Island, which is described as a mix of “creature collecting, exploration, and a farming sim.”
They wrapped up the panel by announcing some of Crunchyroll’s upcoming slate, including Dr. Stone Science Future, which continues Senku Ishigami’s adventures. The anime that got the biggest reaction was definitely Zenshu, an anime about an animator losing control of her creation.
With anime like “Fairy Tail” and “Dragon Ball DAIMA” in their catalog, Crunchyroll has a solid foundation for a bright future — no matter what genre that future is in. Titles like Go For It, Nakamura-kun! and I’m a Noble on the Brink of Ruin, So I Might as Well Try Mastering Magic has this anime novice’s ears perked up. Subscribers can feast their eyes and ears on all the well-done dubs and zany anime right now or in the coming months on Crunchyroll.
