Writer Jeff Lemire took to his newsletter to answer a few burning fan questions about Absolute Flash, and they were enlightening. The series launches in March with art by Nick Robles, further expanding the Absolute Universe. In the same month, two new series launch in the universe: Absolute Martian Manhunter and Absolute Green Lantern.
So what’s Absolute Flash #1 about?
Without the mentor…without the family…without the Speed Force, what’s left is the Absolute Scarlet Speedster!
Lemire confirmed in his newsletter the series is an ongoing, with his plotting currently setting up issues #12-24. He also confirmed this version of Flash is Wally, and he is the only Flash in the universe. He’s a teenager, and while there are no other Flash’s, Barry does exist in the series. Jay Garrick will also show up at some point.
Lemire also said of connections to other Absolute titles:
I will say that the first seeds of a bigger connection between titles happens at the end of Absolute Flash #1 and that leads into the Free Comic Book Day story that I wrote where we see all the Absolute characters between the same cover for the first time.
