Both the summer and our Channel Surfing TV picks are heating up. Travel back over 66 million years ago in Walking with Dinosaurs. Check into the site of a massacre in Hell Motel. Then, a family tries to rebuilt its empire in The Waterfront.
Traveling Back in Time
The original Walking with Dinosaurs aired over 25 years ago. It was a groundbreaking documentary that used CGI to take viewers back to the Mesozoic age. A new version is set to premiere, and thanks to advancements in technology, it should be even more visually stunning.
Each episode follows a different dinosaur found at an active dig site. Based off of the paleontological evidence, the dinosaur’s story is crafted using a combination of CGI and live action environments.
Walking with Dinosaurs premieres Monday, June 16, on PBS.
A Bloody History
Hell Motel follows 10 VIPs in the true crime scene who are invited to a recently renovated motel that was the site of a 30-year-old Satanic mass murder. During their stay, each visitor begins to be murdered one by one making a more violent massacre than the original.
The limited series stars Eric McCormack, Paula Brancati, Shaun Benson, Atticus Mitchell, Emmanuel Kabongo, Jim Watson, and Genevieve DeGraves. It comes from the creators of the Slasher series, Aaron Martin and Ian Carpenter.
The first two episodes of Hell Motel drop Tuesday, June 17, on Shudder.
Maintaining a Legacy
The Waterfront follows the Buckley family of Havenport, North Carolina. They held influence over the area through their fishing and culinary empire. However, things begin to deteriorate after the patriarch Harlan suffers health issues.
While he recovers, his wife Belle and son Crane face difficulties keeping their businesses afloat. Harlan is forced back into the lead role and he must turn to questionable activities to turn their fortunes around. The story is inspired by true events.
