Courtesy of AWA Studios, AIPT can share exclusive preview art and details about The Purpose Project, the second one-shot in the Protopias Collection. The first was Polis, which we covered extensively in our chat with Mark Russell.
Written by Danny Hogan with art by Felipe Cunha, The Purpose Project is an imaginative odd couple workplace comedy that pairs an unambitious stoner with a salty soon-to-be-retiree as part of a new government initiative dubbed “The Purpose Project.” Its goal: to help everyday citizens adjust to a world in which most jobs have been made obsolete and where people have an opportunity to find alternative sources of purpose beyond the traditional concepts of “work.”
“I’ve always believed that storytelling is one of the most powerful ways to help us reimagine what’s possible,” Andrew Yang (the former Democratic 2020 presidential and 2021 New York City mayoral candidate) told us. “We’ve seen countless dystopian visions of the future, but far fewer explorations of what could go right. That’s why I’m so excited about The Purpose Project and the larger Protopias Collection. These stories challenge us to think beyond mere survival and to start building a future worth looking forward to — one where technology, policy, and culture come together to create new opportunities for human flourishing.”
