Vault Comics has announced the blood-soaked return of their hit fantasy series Barbaric with an all-new one-shot, Barbaric: The Black Knight, arriving in October 2025. Written by co-creator Michael Moreci and featuring art by Guilherme Balbi, colors by Fabi Marques, and letters by Jim Campbell, this oversized special throws fans back into the action with Flail (yes, the talking weapon), Deadheart, Serra, and Ka—all fresh off the events of Queen of Swords.
Their new mission? Take down the evil witch Doxon. The problem? A familiar face is now strapped to a spiked ball, swinging from the hand of a deadly ancient knight. Not everyone will survive, and if you want to keep your Barbaric fan card, you won’t want to miss this one.
“It’s great to be back,” said Moreci. “The Black Knight is where we start revealing the larger scope of the Barbaric universe, and Guilherme’s art—paired with Fabi’s colors—makes this return an absolute knockout.”
Following The Black Knight, the fifth full arc of Barbaric will launch in December 2025, with artist and co-creator Nathan Gooden returning to the series. One of Vault’s best-selling titles, Barbaric has been praised by Entertainment Weekly, CBR, and more, known for its wildly violent, darkly funny tale of Owen the cursed barbarian and his drunk, talking axe.
Barbaric: The Black Knight will feature multiple variant covers from top artists, including Nathan Gooden, Luana Vecchio, and Corin Howell. Prepare yourself—someone’s definitely losing a limb.
