Todd McFarlane and Steve Orlando bring comics power to The Boulet Brothers’ ‘Dragula: Titans’ season 2

Seeing creators like McFarlane and Orlando cross over into this horror-drag celebration underscores just how deeply comics influence wider pop culture.

Horror, drag, and comics collide this fall, but were drag and comics ever that far apart? AMC+ and Shudder have announced that Season 2 of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans, the all-star spinoff of the hit horror-drag competition, will premiere October 7. Alongside the returning drag legends, two major figures from the comics world are stepping into the spotlight: Spawn creator and Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane, and celebrated writer Steve Orlando (Wonder Woman, Scarlet Witch).

The show, hosted by Dracmorda and Swanthula Boulet, pushes returning contestants through challenges blending horror, sci-fi, and fantasy with high-concept drag artistry. But comics fans will have even more reason to tune in this season. McFarlane joins as a guest judge, weighing in on design, performance, and raw creativity—ideally suited for an artist who redefined superhero visuals and helped build Image Comics into a creative powerhouse. Orlando, meanwhile, appears as a special guest, bringing the perspective of a writer known for pushing genre boundaries and spotlighting marginalized voices in comics.

AIPT is no stranger to these comics creators and the Boulet Brothers, as all three were guests on the AIPT Comics podcast one time or another. You can listen to the Boulet Brother episode here, McFarlane here, and Orlando has guested multiple times.

The Boulet Brothers teased a bigger, darker, and more relentless season than ever before, packed with shocking twists and horror-fueled spectacle. Contestants will battle through the show’s infamous pillars of Filth, Horror, and Glamour, all for a $100,000 grand prize, a world tour headlining spot, and the title of “Queen of the Underworld.” Given how strong the first season of Titans was, I’m sure this will be a season for the ages.

EXCLUSIVE Heavy Metal Preview: Boulet Brothers Halloween Takeover

The Boulet Brothers are no strangers to comics, either, having taken over Heavy Metal Magazine back in 2021, with Steve Orlando involved with the project as well. Since then, they’ve stormed comics via DC Horror Presents #1 and Hello Darkness #10!

For comics readers, seeing creators like McFarlane and Orlando cross over into this horror-drag celebration underscores just how deeply comics influence, and are influenced by, wider pop culture.
