“Starbreaker Supremacy” has ended, and the Starbreakers are filling up their hunger with all the emotions they can handle while being trapped in the Lantern Batteries on Oa. Post-event, Jeremy Adams gives us an issue that showcases some downtime while setting up for the next big thing, which will most likely take us to issue #600, since this issue is also Legacy issue #595. For fans of Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner, they are going to want to be watching the pages and panels as there is change brewing in the air for the two. What do Jeremy Adams and the rest of the creative team of Green Lantern have in store for us?

Xermanico is the cover artist for this issue, and he delivers a loving touch between Hal and Carol. The cover does match the story inside, as there is a scene that wonderfully develops more of the love and relationship between Hal and Carol. Hal’s thoughts about Carol had me reminisce about their past, and if you want to check out some of the tests from their past, mainly from the Spectre years, I would suggest Green Lantern Vol. 3 #119 and Spectre Vol. 4 #5, as they have some tender moments to help with Hal’s mindset of why he is a lucky guy. The two have had quite a bumpy ride in the past, but Jeremy Adams’ take on their relationship is so refreshing as they actually feel in love.
Artist V Ken Marion and colorist Romulo Fajardo Jr handle the interior art, and their style is full of high pace and positive energy, which brings the script to its fullest life. Their art fully captures the connections between the characters, making them vigorous and intriguing. The play between Jo and Guy is fun as it moves the scene, then it hits the big moment of what’s in the Book of Oa. The scene with Kyle Rayner, Superboy, and Odyssey also brings the fun as Kyle explores the limits of the White Lantern ability inside himself. The mystery deepens as Hal, Guy, and Jessica explore the Book of Oa and its connection to Hal; love that the Guardian there is bringing the element of suspension, and it deepens as he meets with the other Guardians. Marion’s art wonderfully captures those moments with his figure composition and facial reaction.

Green Lantern #28 is a fun issue that keeps lots of moving parts driving forward post-arc, but definitely builds the mystery of what is next. I like that Hal and Kyle are getting moments with their plot points, building them without undercutting other characters; Jeremy Adams knows how to grow a group and keep it interesting. Jessica, Jo, and Guy have great moments as support while still mattering to the overall piece. The march to issue #600 is happening, and it looks like the White Lantern and Book of Oa will be the significant points to watch, but alongside that is also the relationship between Hal and Carol, which has never looked better, thanks to this Green Lantern creative team.
The Starbreaker Supremacy may be over, but peace never lasts long for the Green Lantern Corps. As Oa rebuilds, Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, and the rest of the Lanterns begin uncovering new mysteries tied to the legendary Book of Oa; now forever changed by the Emotional Spectrum. With romance rekindled, secrets unveiled, and hints of something bigger on the horizon, things are exciting for Hal and Kyle as Jeremy Adams and his creative team craft a transition issue that deepens bonds while setting the stage for the road to issue #600.
