Skybound and Image Comics have officially revealed the long-awaited return of Invincible Universe: Battle Beast with issue #7, launching an all-new story arc on March 18, 2026. The series reunites the original creative team, with writer Robert Kirkman, artist Ryan Ottley, colorist Annalisa Leoni, and letterer Rus Wooton all back for what’s being teased as the most brutal chapter yet.
This new arc throws Battle Beast directly into the path of his deadliest opposition to date—with the Viltrum Empire now officially on the horizon. According to Kirkman, the chaos seen in earlier issues was only the appetizer, with this storyline finally revealing how Battle Beast ended up imprisoned by the Viltrumites in the first place.
Ottley teased even more carnage ahead, hinting that Conquest’s name being dropped in issue #6 is no coincidence—and yes, that likely means Battle Beast vs. Conquest is coming. The issue will also feature a Todd McFarlane variant cover, adding even more hype to the release.
The timing is no accident. The comic lands during Skybound’s “Invincible Month” in March 2026, which aligns with the debut of season four of the hit Invincible animated series on Prime Video. Skybound is also gearing up for the release of the upcoming Invincible VS fighting game, making 2026 a massive year for the franchise.
Even in a universe ruled by powerhouses like Invincible and Omni-Man, Battle Beast remains obsessed with one thing: finding someone strong enough to kill him in combat. With the Viltrumites now in his path, that deadly wish may finally be granted.

Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #7 will ship with a main cover by Ryan Ottley and Annalisa Leoni, plus an expanded variant lineup including incentive covers by Chris Burnham, Rossi Gifford, Edwin Galmon, and a 1:100 foil by Matthew Roberts, along with the Todd McFarlane open-to-order variant.
