‘Alien: King Killer’ drops humanity into its darkest nightmare yet

‘ALIEN: KING KILLER’ by Saladin Ahmed and Carlos Nieto, the latest ALIEN epic from Marvel Comics, hits stands in April.

A brutal new era of Alien storytelling is about to begin at Marvel Comics. Launching this April, ALIEN: KING KILLER is a five-issue limited series that pushes the franchise into its bleakest territory yet—one where humanity has already lost the war against the Xenomorphs.

Written by Saladin Ahmed (Wolverine) and illustrated by Carlos Nieto (Ultimate Black Panther), the series is set on a planet completely overrun by Xenomorphs. With the aliens victorious, the story explores what survival looks like when there’s no hope of winning—only the question of how much humanity is willing to sacrifice to stay alive.

On this fallen world, the last remnants of humanity shelter behind the rule of three mysterious warlords known as the Three Kings. But the fragile balance holding civilization together begins to crack when a fourth sibling emerges, driven by revenge. As tensions rise, it becomes clear that the Kings themselves are hiding secrets even more dangerous than the creatures clawing at the gates.

Ahmed describes King Killer as a personal milestone—and a fresh lens on the franchise’s central themes:

“I’m old enough to remember Aliens landing at the theaters after having watched Alien on Betamax, so I’ve been ready to tell stories in this universe for a good long while now,” Ahmed shared. “KING KILLER is more of an action story than pure horror, but it is centrally about the most fascinating question in the franchise: What makes a monster? I’m super excited for readers to join us for this weird, pulse pounding Alien story!”

Fans looking to dive even deeper into the saga will also get a special preview on Comics Giveaway Day™ on May 2, with a prelude story by Ahmed and artist Emilio Laiso appearing in ALIEN, PREDATOR & PLANET OF THE APES #1 CGD 2026.

ALIEN: KING KILLER #1 features a chilling main cover by David Yardin and arrives in comic shops this April. Preorders are now open at local comic shops for readers ready to witness the Alien universe at its most unforgiving.
