Marvel isn’t letting the Ultimate Universe die—announces ‘Reborn: Ultimate Impact’ #1

The Ultimate Universe may be ending, but its most dangerous ideas are about to spread across the Marvel Universe.

The Ultimate Universe may be reaching its final chapter, but its influence is far from over. This spring, Marvel will explore its lasting impact with REBORN: ULTIMATE IMPACT, a five-issue limited series launching after the conclusion of ULTIMATE ENDGAME in April. Teased yesterday, the series spins out of Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion.

Written by Chris Condon (Ultimate Wolverine) with art by Stefano Caselli (Ultimate Black Panther), the series continues from where Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion left off, with Miles Morales returning home carrying mysterious devices known as Origin Boxes, powerful tools once used to create the heroes of the Ultimate Universe.

Originally engineered by the Maker to strip characters of their destined heroism, each Origin Box contains everything needed to bestow a specific power set. In the wrong hands, those powers could just as easily create terrifying new villains as legendary heroes.

A teaser in Miles Morales: Spider-Man #42 revealed that the race to control the Origin Boxes is already underway. As shadowy forces close in on Miles, the boxes are scattered across the Marvel Universe, setting the stage for the rise of new characters who may wield familiar abilities—but follow radically different paths. The Origin Boxes will also factor heavily into Marvel’s upcoming Armageddon storyline, beginning next month with Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon by Chip Zdarsky and Luca Maresca.

With the fallout from ULTIMATE ENDGAME rippling outward, Miles finds himself at the center of a universe-spanning conflict as he tries to keep the Origin Boxes out of the wrong hands. What follows is the birth of entirely new heroes and villains—and a struggle that could permanently reshape the future of the Marvel Universe.

“I am so excited to be a part of this book and to be working with this fantastic team,” Condon shared. “To be able to play with the idea of these universes colliding in a truly unique and interesting way like this, and to have the opportunity to create new and lasting creations within them – both characters and settings – is a dream for any creator in this industry. I’m having so much fun working on this book with artist Stefano Caselli and Editor Tom Groneman. I hope that shines through when readers pick up their copies of what I think will be an exciting new piece of the Marvel Universe.”

Marvel has released a cover by Ben Harvey and promises more details soon, including the reveal of the new characters emerging from REBORN: ULTIMATE IMPACT.
