Ring Magazine, long known as “The Bible of Boxing,” is entering comics through a new partnership with Dark Horse Comics. The collaboration launches an eight-issue series that digs into boxing’s enduring quest to crown the true champion.
Titled The Ring: The Man Who Beat The Man, the series is written by Gail Simone and illustrated by Elisa Romboli, with colors and lettering by Iolanda Zanfardino. Covers are provided by Oliver Barrett. The story blends the intensity of the fight game with a fictional look at the global race for boxing’s top prize.
Developed alongside the editorial team at Ring Magazine, the first issue arrives in June 2026.
The series centers on veteran Ring Magazine journalist Cameron Duggan and rising broadcast personality Lisa Wolfe, a former podcaster who has moved into television commentary. As they travel across the boxing world covering a new generation of contenders, they witness the ambition, rivalries, and behind-the-scenes maneuvering that define the sport at its highest level.
Every fighter brings a different mindset to the climb, but all are chasing the same goal: reaching the top and proving they are the one who beat the man. As Duggan and Wolfe follow their stories, they also contend with the pressures and larger-than-life personalities that surround the sport.
The Ring: The Man Who Beat The Man #1 (of 8) hits comic shops and bookstores on June 3, 2026, with a cover price of $4.99.
