The curveball from the previous Last Chance Kitchen meant something was going to happen on Top Chef. After a seemingly normal episode of challenges, the big drama was saved for the end.
For the quickfire, the Top Chef kitchen was visited by Southern Charm stars Madison LeCroy and Craig Conover. In a challenge sponsored by Cracker Barrel, the competitors were separated into teams of three to create a complete day of meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, consisting of new country classics that could not be found on the restaurant’s menu. The winning team won $12,000.
After creating all the meals of the day, the elimination involved dessert. After given a display of classic southern desserts, they had three hours to create their own spin on one of them that was fit for a queen. They would not only be serving the judges, but also 60 super fans who would determine the winner. Self-described super fan Melissa Benoist served as the guest judge.
The episode kept on going after the elimination challenge announcing that Top Chef staple Restaurant Wars would be next. Unfortunately for Jennifer, her health issues became an issue and she was forced to leave the competition but could return at a later season. That gave the opportunity of the just eliminated contestant to return. Except that was Justin and he could not continue if his partner was in the hospital. That means maybe Sieger, who was eliminated two weeks ago, might be coming back.
It sounded like good news for Jennifer’s recovery since Justin did return and compete in Last Chance Kitchen. He went head-to-head against Rhoda where they made a weird dish inspired by the words “alien,” “glamorous,” and “whipped.”
Here are our Top Chef Power Rankings after week seven.
