When it comes to designs, is there anything hotter than Nick Dragotta’s designs? That’s something I pondered as I perused the latest design sheet shared via Threads, this time for Absolute Clayface. Much like his other supervillain designs, the sheet reveals a somewhat haunting, horror-rich villain.
As you can see in the design below, this is a slightly less chaotic Clayface, with a note detailing that it’s more like a sculpture found in the clay.
Also incredibly haunting:
His trapped souls sculpt him.
Could this mean the character consumes people in his clay?

Haunting stuff, and maybe even more haunting than Joker’s look, along with Killer Croc and Mr. Freeze?
Make no mistake, Absolute Batman is largely a huge success thanks to Dragotta’s genius, from Absolute Catwoman’s sleek look and nifty weaponry, to the Penguin and Two-Face designs leaning into the horror Bane made them into.
According to the DC Comics solicitations released earlier today, it appears Batman will be fighting Clayface in August. As you can see from the main cover, it features two Batmans fighting in mud, or is that clay?

So what’s Absolute Batman #23 about?
In a climactic showdown, Batman is forced to battle an unyielding enemy in not just the Robins but in himself. More than one dead character signals a call for help…and a symbol of hopelessness as more friends become enemies.
