‘Top Chef’ season 23 Power Rankings: Week 12

Top Chef takes a detour into Appalachia.

Top Chef spent the past two weeks in Greenville, South Carolina. Unfortunately, the show’s time in the city came to an end, and the contestants made their way back to Charlotte. But they had a little detour along the way.

The chefs stopped by Asheville, North Carolina. The city, in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, has a unique cuisine and history. There, they met with alum and competitor on season 19 Ashleigh Shanti. Instead of a quickfire challenge, Shanti gave them a culinary tour to meet the people who helped feed Asheville after Hurricane Helene.

After hearing the stories and learning about what the area had to offer, the contestants were tasked with creating a dish featuring two Appalachian ingredients. They were given 30 minutes and $300 to shop for ingredients at Whole Foods. The proteins and Appalachian ingredients would be provided for them. Then, they had three hours to prep and cook in the kitchen and an additional 90 minutes on-site to serve 200 diners. For winning the previous elimination, Sherry had the advantage of selecting her Appalachian ingredients first, which were then off limits for everyone else.

The competition has been whittled down to the Fab Four of Top Chef season 23. Here are our Power Rankings after week 12.
