Marvel Comics has announced a new line of Hellfire-themed variant covers tied to this summer’s X-Men: The Hellfire Murder #1.
Launching in July, the Hellfire Costume Swap Variant Covers spotlight Marvel heroes wearing looks inspired by other characters’ Hellfire Gala fashions. The covers serve as a companion to the latest Hellfire Gala event, which promises another evening of mutant politics, mystery, and high-profile fashion.
The cover program is being created by Marvel’s current class of Stormbreakers artists, an initiative that highlights emerging talent across the publisher’s line. This year’s Stormbreakers include Alessandro Cappuccio, Netho Diaz, Simone Di Meo, Juan Frigeri, Gurihiru, Jonas Scharf, Geoff Shaw, and Luciano Vecchio.
The artists were selected for their growing influence within the industry and their work across a range of Marvel titles, including Ultimate Wolverine, X-Men, Ultimates, Jeff the Land Shark, Ultimate Endgame, Wade Wilson: Deadpool, and Uncanny X-Men.
Marvel launched the Stormbreakers program in 2020 as the successor to its Young Guns initiative. Over the years, the program has spotlighted artists who later became some of the industry’s most recognizable creators, including Steve McNiven, Jim Cheung, Sara Pichelli, Ryan Stegman, and many others.
Befitting this year’s masquerade theme and showcasing the Stormbreakers’ undeniable style instincts, the fashion-forward covers present heroes swapping costumes with fellow Marvel icons!
