Absolute Green Arrow is sticking around longer than expected.
Writer Pornsak Pichetshote revealed on Instagram that DC Comics has officially extended Absolute Green Arrow to 12 issues, doubling the original planned six-issue run. The announcement comes as the title has become one of the standout books in DC’s growing Absolute Universe, alongside acclaimed series such as Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, and Absolute Wonder Woman. The series also follows in the footsteps of Absolute Martian Manhunter, which was originally set for six issues and was extended to twelve issues.
Pichetshote shared his excitement while reflecting on how unexpected the series’ success has been.
“No matter how many people talked about it, I wasn’t prepared to believe it,” Pichetshote wrote. “I mean, I wasn’t prepared to believe this book would even exist, because back when I was a DC Comics employee, the company felt nowhere near bold enough to publish something like this.”
The writer credited the success of the Absolute Universe to its creative leadership and editorial team.
“That’s a testament to how successful DC Absolute Universe is under Scott Snyder’s leadership and the care of our amazing editors. And honestly, just how bold DC right now is willing to be in general.”
Pichetshote also thanked his collaborators, including artist Rafael Albuquerque, colorist Marcelo Maiolo, letterer Jeff Eckleberry, editor Katie Kubert, assistant editor Sabrina Futch, and the book’s readers.

The extension means readers can expect six additional issues beyond the original plan, giving Pichetshote and Albuquerque more room to continue developing their reimagining of Oliver Queen and the mysteries surrounding the Absolute Universe’s take on Green Arrow.
Absolute Green Arrow #3 comes out today, and with Absolute Green Arrow now confirmed to run through issue #12, the series joins a growing list of Absolute Universe titles that have earned expanded commitments as DC’s bold new publishing initiative continues to gain momentum.
