Just their luck, the Green Lantern Corps arrive in our universe and are promptly trapped in a prison made by two of the most insane villains known to the Corps. With Hal still unaware of their return, what will they do? And is it good?

So what’s it about? The summary reads:
“BOTTLED LIGHT” part four! The Green Lantern and Sinestro Corps form an uneasy alliance as they try to escape Larfleeze’s clutches while Hal Jordan begins a new mission to help resurrect the nearly extinct Blue Lanterns.
Why does this book matter?
This series has been firing on all cylinders since Robert Venditti started giving it a big blockbuster feel and lots of action. He’s been aided by artists like Rafa Sandoval who draws this issue, as the art has been impactful and detailed. If you like big action you can’t miss this.

Hmm, what’s this?
This issue offers up action galore as the Corps and the Yellow Lanterns attempt to free themselves of Larfleeze and Brainiac. They’re in a pickle for sure, but Venditti uses some clever strategy as they attempt an escape. This strategy all involves trust between the Yellow Lanterns and the Green Lantern Corps, which not only allows for action (they gotta fight each other folks!), but will pay off later as these two groups haven’t trusted each other.
Meanwhile, Hal begins to get his bearings after being straight up dead. Key information is passed on from him to others and if you’re at all interested in Green Lantern you’ll perk up from what he encountered last issue. Kyle and the Guardians certainly do!
Sandoval is quite good at delivering the big and action packed art with cool full page spreads throughout the issue. Larfleeze looks quite good with a monstrous look and body language that helps convey his madness (Venditti makes his need for “green and yellow pretties” hilariously diabolical). The constructs in this issue are quite nice on the eyes too, with cool arm gauntlets, brass knuckles and more throughout. The art in this series continues to jump right out at you and is worthy of a 3D projection if they could manage it!
It can’t be perfect can it?
Hal’s storyline seems to drag on, with him telling other characters information we already know. By the end of the issue you’ll be breathing a sigh of relief since he’s finally doing the thing we’ve been waiting ages for. Ultimately the Green and Yellow Lanterns aren’t progressing things much either (this is partially the fault of the book being double shipped I’m sure) which makes the issue amount to less storytelling then most would like for a comic. Their section still is fun, and serves to build trust, but it’s again another issue that seems to be padding things out.

Is It Good?
Another action packed blockbuster of an issue with lots of very pretty art. Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps continues to be the summer blockbuster of DC Rebirth.
