John Cena vs. Roman Reigns made official for WWE No Mercy

The Franchise vs. The Big Dog will officially happen September 24th from Los Angeles.

Announced by Mike Rome just hours before tonight’s edition of Monday Night Raw goes down at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee, John Cena vs. Roman Reigns has been made official for No Mercy, the Raw brand’s next pay-per-view. No Mercy takes place September 24 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Cena called out Reigns during last week’s Raw, before being interrupted by The Miz. The two megastars would later team up against Miz and Samoa Joe in the main event, where Cena picked up the victory with an AA on The Miz, despite an inadvertent Superman Punch from the Big Dog straight to Cena’s face.

Though it seems strange that WWE would jump the gun on such a legitimate mega-match at a pay-per-view outside one of the company’s “Big Four” events (Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series), adding a showdown between the two powerhouses should help pique interest for the event. The rest of the card doesn’t seem to be resting on its main event, either: Besides Cena vs. Reigns, already confirmed is Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship. And given Los Angeles’ propensity for being a hot crowd, No Mercy looks like it will be a show to remember.
