SNES Classic Release Day!

Tips and Tricks to capture the SNES classic

It’s finally here folks! Tomorrow, September 29th is nostalgia’s day of worship – because the SNES Classic hits stores first thing in the morning.

There’s been quite a few articles written about how to score one of these beauties, but to summarize, there seems to be a few items to keep in mind:

  • First – there’s a hell of a lot more of these shipping than the NES Classic. I’ve called stores and they said they have dozens ready to go first thing, so there’s a good chance of walking in and nabbing one.
  • That’s not even considering the online option. While most e-retailers are not accepting pre-orders anymore, if you’re looking to score and can wait the two days for shipping, start hitting refresh at 12 Midnight EST, and you might be rewarded.
  • Your absolute best bet? Check for 24 hour stores – like some big box stores. You can be inside, asking about releases tonight at Midnight, and simultaneously trying to score on Amazon. Out of luck at midnight = early rise to wait in line, as my local Walmart opens at 5am! FIVE AM. WHO NEEDS WALMART AT…ok, ok, I digress.

So there you have it, a quick snapshot guide to getting that sweet fix of 1990’s injected right into your TV.

If you’re looking to pick one up to potentially tinker with and exercise your right as a consumer, you’ll be happy to know that the SNES looks just as hackable as the NES Classic.
