Bruce Campbell on season 3 of Ash vs. Evil Dead: “You’re going to pick your fucking jaw up off the floor”

Ash vs. Evil Dead returns on February 25th.

When Ash vs. Evil Dead comes to Comic Con, they don’t play around. After showing a short trailer for the upcoming Season 3, Bruce Campbell thanked the audience for putting his kids through college before screening the entire Season 3 premiere.

The gang is still in Ash’s hometown of Elk Grove and Ash’s former high school becomes the setting for major Deadite gore after the Necronomicon’s power is unleashed once more.

Cast: Lindsay Farris, Arielle Carver-O’Neill, Dana DeLorenzo, Ray Santiago, and Bruce Campbell

The biggest development this season — and this is referenced in the upcoming trailer — is that Ash discovers he’s got a teenage daughter played by Arielle Carver-O’Neill. The other new cast member is Dalton (Lindsay Farris), a man belonging to an order known as the Knights of Sumeria.

But the biggest news came when a Comic-Con attendee asked Campbell what many have wondered since the show began:  if they were ever going to revisit the medieval time travel of Army of Darkness, the third film in the Evil Dead Trilogy. Up until this point, the show has totally ignored this chapter of the films.

“To allude to the end of the season, it’s really, really, really different,” said Campbell. “You’re going to pick your fucking jaw up off the floor at the end of this season. And I wish I could tell you [more], because I would love to see your jaws drop right now, but no. Download the app and watch it yourself.”

Campbell brought up the Starz app because, as he explained, Starz has been bought by Lionsgate, which makes the fate of the show after Season 3 more uncertain.

“Those of you in the corporate world might understand when two corporations collide,” Campbell explained, “it takes a while to figure things out. You see, our bosses now have bosses, and the bosses are talking, having long and important discussions about, first of all, who gets shitcanned and who stays. So once they work their problems out, they’ll work our problems out. They’re going to move us to February because they’re trying to get us out of a very nasty timeslot, which is the fall, so we think that’s going to help. It’s more time for you to get the app between now and February.”

Ash vs. Evil Dead returns on February 25th.
