‘Deadpool 2’ gets new, earlier release date

Even less of a wait than we thought.

Though it was just two years ago, it feels like ages since we’ve seen The Merc with a Mouth in movie theaters. Deadpool 2 is set to change that, and with the marketing campaign ramping up, it’s hard not to get excited.

Thankfully, we don’t have to wait for as long as we thought. Though the original date was June 1, Hollywood Reporter published today a report saying that date has moved up to May 18.

This puts Deadpool 2 in close proximity to other heavy hitters in the nerdosphere, including Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, and Solo: A Star Wars Story a week later on May 25. According to the report, the change is to avoid two X-Men themed movies being in theaters in the same time, as in some markets the original date may have caused Deadpool to overlap with New Mutants.

Deadpool 2 stars Ryan Reynolds as the eponymous character and Stefan Kapičić as Colossus. The movie will premiere May 18, 2018.
