Gal Gadot accepts Critics’ Choice #SeeHer Award with empowering speech: “I will not be silenced”

‘I want to share this award with all the women and men who stand for what’s right.’

Last year, the Critics’ Choice Awards began giving the #SeeHer award, which honors women who "push boundaries on changing stereotypes and recognize the importance of accurately portraying women across the entertainment landscape."

Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot accepted the award, presented to her by her director on the movie, Patty Jenkins. Jenkins noted the BFCA said it was for “using her platform to encourage those in the entertainment industry and beyond to strive for fairness and parity across all genders.” Upon accepting, Gadot gave an inspiring speech about the importance of the movie and the wave of female empowerment in the entertainment industry and beyond.

Gadot spoke about her role as Wonder Woman, saying "She’s full of heart, strength, compassion, and forgiveness. She sees wrong that must be made right. She takes action when everyone around her is idle. She commands the attention of the world, and in doing so, she sets a positive example for humanity."

She went on to dedicate the award to the women and men who have spoken up against sexual misconduct throughout every facet of life in past months, including Hollywood. "I want to share this award with all the women and men who stand for what’s right, standing for those who can’t stand or speak for themselves. And I promise, my commitment to all of you is that I will never be silenced. And we will continue to band together to make strides uniting for equality."

Wonder Woman was also nominated for three other Critics’ Choice Awards: best action movie, best visual effects, and best costume design.
