After the success of its improbable reboot in 2014, astrophysicist and Hayden Planetarium director Neil deGrasse Tyson, along with co-producer Seth MacFarlane (of Family Guy fame), have announced that Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey, the award-winning science education TV series, will return in the spring of 2019.
The 13-episode series was an unlikely gamble for Fox’s Sunday night line-up, but Cosmos also aired on the National Geographic cable channel. With 135 million global viewers across both outlets, Cosmos was the most-watched series ever on National Geographic.
The 2014 series was a follow-up to Carl Sagan’s 1980 Cosmos: A Personal Voyage PBS program, and was co-written by Ann Druyan, Sagan’s widow.
Check out the teaser for the next season of Cosmos, subtitled “Possible Worlds.”
