Goldberg will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2018

He’s next!

WWE usually starts announcing their Hall of Fame class right around the Royal Rumble each year, and today the company followed that tradition by announcing via social media that Goldberg will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this April.

Goldberg is best known for being arguably the greatest original creation in WCW’s history, eclipsing the popularity of even the nWo as he racked up almost 200 straight wins in one of the most memorable streaks in pro wrestling history. WWE recognizes it as the longest streak ever until Asuka claimed the accolade in 2017 during her legendary run in NXT.

Goldberg’s WWE career was far less memorable, but not without its moments. After some high profile feuds with The Rock and Triple H upon joining the company in 2003, Goldberg left the company on a sour note at the same time Brock Lesnar did, culminating in a memorable-for-all-the-wrong-reasons shitshow match at WrestleMania XX.

He would vindicate his WWE career, though, in 2016, when he returned to take on Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. He would eventually win the WWE Universal Championship from Kevin Owens, and go on to defend it against Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 (a match he lost).

An icon of 1990s wrestling, Goldberg is well deserving of a spot in WWE’s hallowed halls. In the season of inductee announcements, much like Goldberg, all we’re left to wonder now is “who’s next?”
