Despicable Mii? Looks like those recent Super Mario movie rumors weren’t unsubstantiated after all. Nintendo announced today that they’re teaming up with Illumination (Minions, Despicable Me) for the upcoming animated Mario movie, co-produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and Chris Meledandri:

Can Shigeru Miyamoto’s innovative genius extend to the silver screen? Will we see Minions dressed in Mario’s iconic plumber overalls or will they fight to the bitter death with the Toads for their mushroom hats? Will the Goombas actually resemble mushrooms? And will there be Yoshi?
