The first “Creed II” trailer drops!

Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone return in this winter’s sequel.

Hot off the mega-success of Black Panther, Creed II is set to debut this winter! Star Michael B. Jordan returns in the role of Adonis Creed, with Sylvester Stallone and Tessa Thompson also returning in supporting roles. Ryan Coogler, director of the first Creed as well as Black Panther, returns here in a producing capacity and hands the directing reigns over to relative newcomer Steven Caple Jr.

The sequel is officially described as follows:

Listen to the latest episode of our weekly movies podcast, Adventures in Movies!

Under guidance from Rocky Balboa, boxing phenom Adonis Johnson prepares for a bout against the son of Ivan Drago — the former Russian fighter who killed his father in the ring years earlier.

The first Creed surpassed expectations and reinvigorated what was previously a tired franchise, shifting the focus on to a new and exciting protagonist and anchored by a remarkable performance from Jordan. Will they be able to catch lightning in a bottle twice with Creed II? It’s hard to say, but based off of this trailer I am certainly optimistic.
