Watch: ‘Streets of Rage 4’ reveal trailer

“The comeback of the legendary Streets of Rage series.”

If you were a child of the ’80s/’90s like myself, here’s some news that’ll delight your inner ten-year-old: a new installment to the popular ’90s Sega beat ’em up series Streets of Rage:

Per Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games and Dotemu’s official reveal trailer:

Featuring hand-drawn visuals from the team behind 2017’s gorgeous Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap remake, Streets of Rage 4 builds upon the classic trilogy’s gameplay with new mechanics, a fresh story and a gauntlet of dangerous stages with a serious crime problem.

As a gamer who’s completed the original Streets of Rage for the Sega Genesis many times over (in co-op mode with my little brother, the ultimate weekend fun-fest), the Streets of Rage 4 announcement is thrilling to be sure. Just one question (a sentiment I’m sure many Streets of Rage are echoig): can we please get legendary composer Yuzo Koshiro involved somehow? If the man who devised this classic theme isn’t involved with the soundtrack, can it truly be called Streets of Rage?
