Disney’s upcoming Star Wars land will serve alcohol in its cantinas

Everyone enjoys a nice cold beer after a smuggling run from Kessel.

When Disney’s newest park Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, opens in 2019 it’s going to be packed with First Order troops, Resistance fighters, smugglers, bounty hunters and all sorts of interesting characters. Now what’s the perfect ingredient to add to this delightful medley? Why alcohol of course.

Oga Garrathe alien proprietor of Oga’s Cantina at Black Spire Outpost, is used to keeping “unruly patrons in check.” The Cantina has a history of being a safe haven for smugglers and patrons hoping to avoid authorities. Thus visitors should expect to see exciting events unfold before them at the bar, tables and in the shadowy corners of the hottest establishment on Black Spire Outpost.

“Oga’s Cantina is the kind of establishment that attracts some of the most interesting and disreputable characters in the galaxy. And you never know when a stormtrooper or a familiar face will show up.” said Scott Trowbridge, Portfolio Creative Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering.

Patrons will have the privilege of enjoying a plethora of concoctions from around the galaxy, created through “otherworldly” methods, served in unique vessels. Of course the cantina will have plenty of choices for kids (it’s Disney after all), but the real excitement is the “libations for adults”.

This will be the first time in Disneyland’s 63 year history that alcoholic beverages are available to park goers, excluding the lucky few who get to enter the exclusive halls of Club 33. Disney California Adventure and Disney World have already been serving alcohol for quite some time now.

What’s a Star Wars cantina without music? Former Star Tours StarSpeeder 3000 pilot droid RX-24, has found a new passion in life for music and is now the resident DJ at Oga’s Cantina.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens in Disneyland summer 2019 and in Disney World late fall 2019.
