Titan Books is well known for their excellent movie-themed coffee table books and has a new one to add to the collection. The book focuses on Harryhausen’s epic movies and the posters that made his films larger than life. Instant classics like Mighty Joe Young and Clash of the Titans are just two of the films celebrated in this book. Peter Jackson put it best when he said, “Without Ray Harryhausen, there would likely have been no ‘Star Wars’ – George Lucas “My teenage years were fuelled by a desire to do exactly what Ray Harryhausen was doing.”

The book is written by Richard Holliss who has worked on documentaries on animation, science fiction, and film comedy for BBC Network Radio. Holliss has worked closely with the Ray & Diana Harryhausen Foundation to collect together a lavish array of full-colour posters and promotional material celebrating this cinema visionary’s unique style.

The book retails for $39.95 (but can be found for even cheaper on Amazon) and was released September 4th.

Richard Holliss is a freelance journalist specialising in the media. Work includes documentaries on animation, science fiction and film comedy for BBC Network Radio. The author of The Disney Studio Story and The James Bond Fact File, Richard has also written reviews and features for numerous film publications including Starburst, Home Cinema Choice, Dark Side, Fantastic Fifties and Sight and Sound.
