Next year’s eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will see the epic saga finally come to a close and fans of Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen, House Stark, the Hound, Brienne of Tarth and even Cersei Lannister (there are a few of you out there, right?) are chomping at the bit to see how the intricate pieces of the political puzzle come together once and for all.
Jon Snow actor Kit Harrington was recently asked his thoughts on the series finale and his answer was a surprisingly conflicted one.
“I think a TV series that’s spanned 8-9 years is quite a difficult thing to end,” Harrington said during a sit-down with MTV News. “I think not everyone is going to be happy. You can’t please everyone. My favorite TV shows Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and The Wire, they all ended in a way I–you can’t–It’s never going to satisfy you.”
The last season of Game of Thrones saw the first meeting between potential power couple Jon Snow (newly crowned King in the North, the White Wolf) and Daenerys Targaryen (Queen of the Andals and the First Men and Mother of Dragons) — who also happen to be aunt and nephew. (Jon was revealed to be the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, which makes him the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, not Dany.)
Will the two’s combined might be enough to thwart the invasion of the White Walkers? Or will Jon Snow’s true heritage end up causing strife between he and Daenerys, further cementing the White Walker’s superior numbers?
What do you think will happen in the season finale of Game of Thrones? And do you think you’ll be happy with the ending? Sound off in the comments.
